As a Dr. of Pharmacy with over 25 years of patient care experience, Dr. Anita Chen Marshall witnessed a great need to supplement western medicine with alternative approaches for treating chronic pain, illness and allergies. She went back to school to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for 3 years, graduated with an M.S. degree in TCM; became a licensed acupuncturist in California; and nationally board-certified in both Acupuncture and Herbology.
With her dual background in eastern and western medicine, Dr. Marshall provides her patients with acupuncture treatments and herbal prescriptions for their chronic and acute health conditions that complement their western medicines and treatments. She maintains a well-stocked Chinese herbal pharmacy and prescribes easy-to-use herbal powder concentrates from manufacturers with highest GMP quality standards.
While Dr. Marshall believes that western medicine holds an invaluable place in the world, she knows first hand the benefits that Chinese medicine has for her patients. As a pharmacist and an acupuncturist, as well as her successful treatment records, Dr. Marshall is well respected in the medical community, receiving numerous patient referrals from western doctors. She was voted Best Professional Service Provider Award by the Alameda Chamber of Commerce in 2004.
Dr. Marshall is a Health Advisor for the Medifast: Take Shape for Life weight loss program. She helps many of her patients achieve their weight loss goals while reducing cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
